Meet the Gamefish Team

Nick Armstead - Founder & Owner

Nick Armstead Gamefish

Previously a manager of Farlows of Pall Mall, Farlows City Branch and Hardy's on Pall Mall, Nick has 35 year's experience providing fly fishing tackle to meet the most exacting fishing conditions around the world.

He has travelled and fished all over the globe - destinations include Russia, Alaska, Argentina, British Columbia, America, Cuba, Bahamas, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Alaska and South Africa.

Nick's favourite species is the Atlantic salmon and when not in the shop will be found casting a line on a river in Scotland.

Favourite destinations... Damdochax river, British Columbia. Steelhead fishing on the most beautiful river and NO mobile phone reception and on the Årøy river in Norway (see photo !)

Nick also appeared on the fishing series 'The Take' which has been shown on Sky over the last few years.

One of the programmes can be seen below.

Roland Skinner

Roland Skinner Gamefish

Roland has fished since he could walk. Up until his move to Scotland in 2014 he spent his time coarse fishing in East Anglia.

With the coarse fishing behind him he now enjoys casting a fly for trout in some of Scotland's best waters. Roland also has links in the south of Norway and when possible takes trips to fish for cod, pollock and mackerel.

Alec McLatchie

Alec learned to fish as a young boy on the water of leith and continues to venture after wild brown trout and sea trout. A passionate 'nymphmaniac' of such, he sleeps on a pile of hundreds of pheasant tail nymphs at night when not down on the local river almond chasing silver in the dark. Curious by nature, you will also find him studying chemistry or exploring the Bristol Docks for monster perch.

John Muir

John Muir Gamefish

John is an environmental student as well as a keen fly angler. He loves fishing for salmon, sea trout and trout and also enjoys tying flies.

His favourite flies to tie are traditional Scottish sea trout flies.

When not in the shop he can be found on the banks of his favourite highland river trying to tempt a fish!

Tully Gamefish

Tully is our 7 year old lab. She likes to growl at everyone that comes into the shop, whilst at the same time wagging her tail & wanting fuss. Her deepest growls are reserved for the postman who she demands fuss from every day.

Finlay Wilson

Finlay Wilson Gamefish

Finlay is an experienced Greys Pro Team Guide and GAIA instructor with an extensive knowledge of fly fishing throughout Scotland for Trout, Grayling, Sea Trout and Salmon.

He is passionate about indigenous wild Brown Trout and regularly appears in Trout & Salmon magazine, usually writing about fishing in the country's more remote, wilder places.

He has fished since the age of six but really became obsessed chasing sea trout at night on the River Annan.

Fin runs a professional guiding and instruction business "Fish Wild" as well as three miles of the Upper Tweed, just an hour's drive from Gamefish HQ.

Finlay joined the Gamefish team at the start of 2012.

Callum Conner

Callum Conner Gamefish

Loop Pro Team and Loop Academy member Callum Conner. He brings a wealth of technical knowledge and experience of the fishing tackle trade and in all areas of fishing.

Callum deals with our website, social media, online marketing and Ebay store in between running his professional guiding and instruction business "Scotia Fishing".

He's also a fully qualified SGAIC, SANA licensed, single hand and double hand fly fishing instructor.

Cal started fishing at the age of 10 for wild Brown Trout on the River Almond before progressing into the local & national stillwater competition circuit successfully in his late teens.

Nowadays his main passions are Salmon fishing, targeting specimen predatory species such as Pike, Perch, Pollock, Wrasse and Bass using the latest fly and modern lure fishing techniques and angling photography.

When he's not working you will find Callum with a fishing rod, some bright coloured clothing and his camera!

Holly Gamefish

Sadly Holly passed away a few years ago. We all miss her terribly. Gone but never forgotten
